Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Loss

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's expected for concerns to be asked about his future after a further heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in twelve matches, marking the club's poorest run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got a lot of backing from above,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory obviously but if you are coaching a team and underperforming then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I accept my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He added, “In the normal discussions I feel the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this game so far so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager highlighted known failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a period of this nature with results so bad.”

Jones stated, “But we still have that badge on our chest. And as long as that badge is removed, we’re always going to battle.”

“We will attempt to get this team back to the top, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
