Iranian Forces State Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any impact is uncertain and the American officials has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have shot down missiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Additional Developments
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
