Mohamed Salah Issues Statement to Squad, Reveals Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones has revealed that the Egyptian forward expressed regret to the group of players in the wake of the controversy from his recent interview.
The Incident
Salah was left out from a European match subsequent to criticising the club and claiming his relationship with manager had broken down.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, I'm sorry.’”
The manager has chosen not to comment publicly on whether he was apologised to from the 33-year-old forward.
Moving Forward
Jones insisted that the team's response remained positive. “He was his usual self, he had a big smile on his face and it was business as usual,” he continued.
He also implied that a teammate fighting for a place is preferable. “I understand there are certain ways you can express yourself,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just sit out, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
On-Field Response
Liverpool's form have stayed unbeaten in the games following the interview fallout. The player is convinced the outburst were not designed to destabilise the squad.
“In moments of frustration, the source has been from a desire to win,” he finished. “We’re past that now and we’re building chemistry, performing and starting to win games.”
