Shock as Popular South African DJ Shot Dead in Johannesburg.
A renowned South African media personality and entertainer has been fatally gunned down in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation struggling with entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was gunned down in the downtown area on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the 40-year-old entertainer was accosted by three individuals, with one shot at him before escaping on foot.
The purpose of the shooting has not been established and no one has been arrested have taken place, according to authorities.
Details of the Attack
Law enforcement revealed that Stock was targeted as he was departing from a building close to the Carlton Centre.
He had devoted time at the site supervising the setup of security systems, which had been reportedly taken over by unidentified individuals, it was reported.
"It is alleged the man was confronted by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they shot at him before running from the location on foot," authorities confirmed.
Surveillance tape reportedly depicted a man with dreadlocks and clad in what resembled a protective services outfit opening fire on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ sought to escape after he was hit but collapsed across the street.
It was further revealed that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the incident.
Crucial forensic evidence, like cartridges, were discovered at the crime scene.

Officials are asking eyewitnesses who may have witnessed the attack to contact them.
"We know they walked a long distance after the attack, and investigators have been attempting to locate them to determine their whereabouts," added an official.

Stock was the star of Ngicel' iVisa, a reality show that was broadcast on a popular local TV network.
